Located in Fanzolo di Vedelago (TV), Villa Emo is one of the most fascinating Venetian villas designed by Andrea Palladio: built starting from 1558-59 for the noble Emo family, it has been included since 1996 in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the “Palladian Villas of the Veneto.”
The villa perfectly combines agricultural function and stately residence, in a harmonious context that recalls the ancient Roman centuriation and the presence of the historic Via Postumia.
The main façade, with a full-height Doric pronaos, combines simplicity and grandeur: a clear sign of Palladio's design maturity.
The two long colonnaded barns flanking the central body were intended for agricultural activities (cellars, granaries, stables): they testify to the villa-farm concept that characterizes many Venetian villas.
The interiors, decorated with frescoes by Giovanni Battista Zelotti, feature allegorical and agricultural scenes that celebrate rural life and land ownership, extraordinarily uniting art and function.
The park and the tree-lined avenue leading to the villa offer a magnificent perspective on the surrounding countryside, enhancing the connection between architecture and landscape.
From our B&B in Rosà, Villa Emo can be reached in about 30-35 minutes by car, taking the SP and local roads towards Fanzolo di Vedelago (Treviso). It is a perfect destination for a half-day visit or to combine with other excursions in the land of Venetian villas.
