VILLA BARBARO

VILLA BARBARO – RENAISSANCE ELEGANCE BETWEEN ART AND NATURE

The splendid Villa Barbaro, located in Maser (in the province of Treviso), is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture by the famous architect Andrea Palladio, built around 1554‑1560 on commission from the brothers Daniele Barbaro and Marcantonio Barbaro.
Today, the villa is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites as part of the “Palladian Villas of Veneto.”

WHAT TO SEE AND WHY IT'S WORTH A VISIT

  • The exterior of the villa features a façade inspired by Roman temples, with Ionic columns and a monumental portico, giving the building a strong aesthetic and symbolic impact.

  • Inside, the frescoes by the painter Paolo Veronese, including the famous “Hall of Bacchus” and the “Hall of Olympus,” represent one of the most important painting cycles of the sixteenth century in Veneto.

  • The nymphaeum and the garden at the back of the villa, designed as an integrated part of the complex, offer a fascinating combination of architecture, nature, and aquatic symbolism.
